You can’t have The Super Mario Galaxy Movie come out without some toys to buy, and like with the first film, Jakks Pacific is in charge of bringing the Illumination movie to merchandising life.
IGN revealed the first look at the company’s toy and figure line, which has something for each of the film’s major characters. To start, there’s 5-inch figures for Mario, Luigi, Daisy, Yoshi, and Bowser Jr. (in his regular and Wonder forms), 2.5-inch figures for the brothers with motorcycles, and 1.5-inch ones for the brothers, Yoshi, Junior’s two forms, and Peach. There’s also glow-in-the-dark Luma yo-yos that come in green, yellow, and blue.
Pricing wise, the 5-inch figures will be $20 individually, and Walmart has an exclusive Junior figure with a punching clown car at the same price. Target has its own exclusive in a 4-pack containing Mario, Luigi, Junior, and Yoshi that’ll run you $60, and the Luma yo-yos are $5 each. The 2.5-inch figures are $15 each and Walmart exclusive, and the 1.5-inch figures are priced at $7 individually.
For doll fans, there’s ones at 9 and 14 inches. The first wave of 9-inch dolls starts with the brothers and Peach with roto heads and plush bodies that are $3 each. The 14-inchers have the brothers in their Fire forms and come with full articulation. They’re $30 each and exclusive to Target.
Finally, there’s three Super Mario Galaxy Movie playsets built around Yoshi, Peach, and Bowser. The first is a 9-inch egg that opens up to reveal a double-sided playset that includes a T.Rex skeleton and 1.5-inch Yoshi and Fire Mario that’ll cost $30 altogether. At $20, the Gateway Galaxy diorama has warp pipes, Peach and Captain Toad figures at 1.5 inches and a Rob the Robot accessory. Lastly, the 12-inch deluxe Bowser’s Castle set has a 1.5-inch Bowser figure and spans three levels that can separate into individual pieces. Of these three, it costs the most at $40.
IGN has more photos of the Super Mario Galaxy Movie toys, and some can be preordered on Walmart or Smyths Toys, with stock reportedly coming on February 20. The film arrives in theaters on April 1.
